Welcome to my site!

I am a Peruvian economist currently pursuing the Master of Arts in Economics (MAE) at the University of Chicago.

My research interests are in macroeconomics, international economics, finance, and applied econometrics, with a particular interest in using microdata and modern empirical methods to study macroeconomic questions. Before beginning the MAE, I worked as a Research Analyst on the United States Desk at the International Monetary Fund, where I contributed to research and policy work on the U.S. economy. Earlier, I worked at the Inter-American Development Bank and the Central Bank of Peru.

I also enjoy programming and contributing to open-source econometrics. I am one of the contributors to csdid, the Python implementation of the staggered difference-in-differences estimator of Callaway and Sant’Anna (2021). The package has now surpassed 400,000 downloads.

I grew up in Peru, was born in Cusco, and studied Economics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. I am particularly proud to be the first generation in my family to graduate from university. That background has shaped both my ambitions and the way I approach my work.

Beyond economics, I enjoy photography, salsa dancing, international food, and movies. I am also endlessly inspired by the work ethic of Cristiano Ronaldo, the economics of Paul Samuelson, and the creativity of Quentin Tarantino.
